本品為白色或微黃色均勻的軟膏狀物；無臭或幾乎無臭；與皮膚接觸有滑膩感；具有一定的拉絲性。本品在約35℃的苯中易溶，在約35℃的氯仿中溶解，在乙醚中微溶，在乙醇或水中幾乎不溶。 [1]

本品的熔點（附錄Ⅵ C第三法）為45～60℃。 [1]
檢查顏色
取本品10g置燒杯中，在水浴上加熱使熔融，傾注于比色管中與同體積的對照液（取比色用重鉻酸鉀溶液7.8ml 與比色用硫酸銅溶液0.2ml,搖勻，取2.5ml, 加水至25ml）比較，顏色不得更深（比色時應(yīng)將比色管靠近白色背景成一無熒光的角度，在反射光下進行觀察）。 [1]
